This website is operated by John Kevin Genon, an independent SEO and digital marketing consultant, trading as The Studio of Kevin Genon. This page explains what personal data this site collects, why it is collected, how long it is kept, and what you can ask me to do with it. If anything here is unclear, email me and I will answer plainly.
Who is responsible for your data
John Kevin Genon is the data controller for this website. You can reach me at kevingenon35@gmail.com for any question or request relating to your personal data.
What this site collects
Information you send me through the enquiry form
When you complete the enquiry form on this site, I collect the information you choose to enter: your first name, your email address, your company or website address, your phone number if you supply one, a description of what you are trying to achieve, and the budget range you select. The form also records the date and time of submission and the IP address the submission came from, which is used to detect and block automated spam.
This information is stored in this website’s own database and is also sent to me by email so that I can reply. It is used for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to run that engagement. It is never sold, rented, or shared for advertising.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, this site records standard technical information when you visit: your browser type, approximate location, the pages you view, and how you arrived. This is collected through Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, connected via the official Google Site Kit plugin, and is used to understand which content is useful and where the site can be improved. Analytics data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
Spam protection
Form submissions are checked by Akismet to filter automated spam. Akismet receives the submitted content, the submitter’s IP address and browser information in order to make that assessment.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site uses them in two ways: strictly necessary cookies that make the site function, and analytics cookies set by Google Analytics that help me understand aggregate usage. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use this site or to send an enquiry.
Legal basis for processing
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, I rely on the following bases. Responding to your enquiry and delivering any work that follows is processed on the basis of legitimate interests and, where a contract exists, performance of that contract. Analytics and spam filtering are processed on the basis of legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and useful. Where consent is required for non-essential cookies, that consent is your basis and you may withdraw it at any time.
How long data is kept
Enquiry form entries are retained for up to twenty-four months from the date of submission, so that I can pick up an earlier conversation if you come back to it. Email logs generated by the site’s mail system are automatically deleted after fourteen days. Analytics data follows Google’s own retention settings. Records relating to a paid engagement are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. You can ask me to delete your enquiry sooner and I will do so.
Who else can see your data
Your data is processed by a small number of service providers acting on my behalf: the web host that runs this site, the email service that delivers notifications, Google (Analytics, Search Console and email), and Akismet for spam filtering. Each of these processes data only to provide their service. I do not sell personal data and I do not share it with advertisers. Some of these providers operate outside your country, including in the United States; transfers are covered by the providers’ own standard contractual clauses and data protection frameworks.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the personal data I hold about you, ask me to correct it if it is wrong, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict how it is used, or object to its use. Where the processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. If you are in California, you additionally have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion, and I do not sell personal information as that term is defined under California law.
To exercise any of these rights, email kevingenon35@gmail.com. I will respond within thirty days. If you are in the UK or EU and you are not satisfied with my response, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Links to other sites
This site links to external websites, including client sites, marketplace profiles and social platforms. Once you follow a link away from this site, that site’s own privacy policy governs your data. I am not responsible for the content or practices of those sites.
Children
This site provides business-to-business consulting services and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under sixteen.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page and the date at the top will be updated. Material changes affecting how your data is used will be described here rather than made quietly.
