Local SEO Services

Local search is a different competition to national SEO. You are not fighting for one ranked list — you are fighting for three positions in the map pack, a place in the localised organic results, and increasingly a mention inside an AI-generated answer. Proximity, prominence and relevance all matter, and only two of those three are under your control.

My local SEO work concentrates on the two you can influence: making your business unambiguously relevant to the services and places you actually serve, and making it visibly prominent enough that Google trusts it over the competitor two streets away.

What local SEO services include

Google Business Profile optimisation

Your profile is usually the single highest-leverage asset in local search, and most are half-configured. Category selection, services and products, attributes, business description, hours and special hours, photo and video cadence, Q&A seeding, Posts, and messaging setup. This gets its own detailed page — see Google Business Profile optimisation.

Citation and NAP consistency

Your name, address and phone number reconciled across the directories and data aggregators that Google actually reads. Inconsistent or duplicate listings dilute the signal; duplicate profiles can actively suppress the correct one. This is tedious, unglamorous work that reliably moves local rankings.

Local landing pages that are not doorway pages

If you serve five suburbs or five cities, you need pages that genuinely differ — real service detail, real local context, distinct internal linking — not one template with the place name swapped. Google is good at spotting the latter, and it does not rank.

Review acquisition and response workflows

Review volume, recency, velocity and keyword content all feed local prominence. I set up a repeatable request process that fits how your business actually talks to customers, plus response templates so every review gets answered. I do not buy, incentivise or fabricate reviews, and I will decline to work with anyone who wants that.

On-page local relevance

Location and service signals in titles, headings, content and internal links; LocalBusiness structured data with accurate geo, hours and service area; embedded maps and directions; service-area clarity for businesses without a storefront.

Multi-location structure

Location hubs, individual location pages, consistent internal linking, and a profile-per-location strategy that does not cannibalise itself. Getting the structure right early is far cheaper than untangling it at twenty locations.

AEO and GEO for local queries

“Near me” behaviour is increasingly answered inside AI overviews and assistants. That rewards clear, extractable, factual content: explicit service lists, plain-language answers, consistent entity information across the web, and structured data that matches what the page says. I build local pages so they are quotable, not just crawlable.

Local SEO ranking factors you can actually influence

Proximity is the one you cannot change, which is exactly why the other factors have to be stronger than your nearest competitor’s.

  • Relevance — categories, services, on-page content and structured data that clearly state what you do and where
  • Prominence — reviews, citations, links from local and industry sources, brand mentions, and the authority of your own site
  • Behavioural signals — clicks, calls, direction requests and messages from your profile, all of which improve when the profile is complete and the photos are current
  • Consistency — the same business facts everywhere Google looks

What you receive

  • A local visibility audit covering your profile, citations, reviews, on-page local signals and competitors in the map pack
  • A prioritised action plan separating quick wins from structural work
  • Implementation of profile and on-page changes, and a specification for anything requiring development
  • Grid-based local rank tracking so you can see visibility by location, not just a single average position
  • Monthly reporting on profile actions — calls, direction requests, website clicks, messages — because those are the numbers that correlate with revenue

Who this is for

Local work pairs naturally with technical SEO, since site-level problems frequently cap local performance, and with WordPress SEO if that is what your site runs on.

  • Single-location service businesses being outranked by competitors with worse reviews
  • Multi-location and service-area businesses with a messy or cannibalising page structure
  • Professional services firms — legal, accounting, medical, trades — where one enquiry is worth a great deal
  • Agencies needing white-label local SEO delivery

Local SEO FAQs

What are local SEO services?

Local SEO services improve how a business appears in geographically-relevant search results: the Google map pack, localised organic listings and AI answers. The work covers Google Business Profile optimisation, citation and NAP consistency, review acquisition, local landing pages, LocalBusiness structured data and local link building.

What is an example of local SEO?

A dental practice ranking in the map pack for “emergency dentist” searches within a few miles of its clinic. Getting there involves choosing the correct primary category, listing services explicitly, building consistent citations, generating a steady flow of recent reviews, and having a page on the site that clearly matches that service and that location.

How long does local SEO take to work?

Profile optimisation can shift map-pack visibility within two to six weeks, because Google re-evaluates profiles quickly. Citation clean-up and review velocity compound over two to four months. Competitive urban markets take longer than suburban ones.

Do I need a physical address to rank locally?

No, but it changes the strategy. Service-area businesses can rank without displaying an address, though they are generally at a disadvantage on proximity-driven queries and need stronger relevance and prominence signals plus well-built service-area pages to compensate.

Can you help a business with multiple locations?

Yes. Multi-location work needs a deliberate structure: a location hub, genuinely distinct location pages, one properly managed profile per location, and internal linking that does not make your own pages compete with each other.

Do you buy reviews or use review-gating software?

No. Both breach Google policy and risk your profile. What I do build is a compliant, repeatable request workflow that asks every customer at the right moment, which is what actually produces sustainable review velocity.

How is local SEO different from regular SEO?

Regular SEO optimises for a single ranked list of results. Local SEO adds a second competition — the map pack — driven substantially by your Google Business Profile, reviews, citations and proximity, not just your website. Both matter, and site-level technical health underpins each of them.

How does local SEO relate to AI search and AEO?

Assistants answer local questions from the same underlying data local search uses — your Google Business Profile, your categories and services, the wording of your reviews, and whether your name, address and phone number agree everywhere they appear. Inconsistency is what makes a model hedge or pick a competitor it can verify. Local SEO done properly is most of the groundwork for answer engine optimisation.

Can I show up in AI answers for near-me searches?

Sometimes, and it is not guaranteed for any single query. What improves the odds is unremarkable: one clearly defined primary category, services listed in the words customers actually use, location pages that answer real questions rather than repeating the city name, and reviews that mention the specific service. There is no setting to switch on — it is the same data, made unambiguous.
