Kevin Genon

SEO-first Web Developer & Web Designer

I design, build and optimise WordPress sites that rank.

Most SEO consultants hand your site to a developer. I do both — research, search strategy, UX, WordPress development, technical implementation and Search Console measurement, in one pair of hands. The result is a site that ranks, loads fast, and turns search traffic into enquiries.

Available for new projects — website builds, redesigns and SEO retainers for service businesses, trades and small ecommerce.

Positioning

Search strategy and the build, in the same hands.

Most SEO work dies in the gap between the recommendation and the implementation. The audit lands, the developer is busy, and six months later half of it is still open.

I handle the whole chain myself — research, SEO strategy, UX and design, WordPress development, technical implementation, performance work and Search Console measurement. Nothing waits on a hand-off, because there isn’t one. And because I know what has to rank before a single page is designed, the structure is right the first time instead of being retro-fitted later.

Search performance, measured in Search Console.

Seven client properties reported live in Google Search Console across a single quarter. Switch between them, or hover any point on the chart to read that day.

26 April – 26 July 2026 · Web search · Impressions, clicks, CTR & position

Totals, CTR values and quarter-on-quarter movement are the figures reported in Google Search Console (web search, 26 April – 26 July 2026). The day-level curve is reconstructed from those reported totals and start/end values to show the shape of the period, so individual days are indicative rather than exported.

01
Automotive · Bellevue & Seattle, WA

Eco Car Cafe

SEO · Local search · Campaign creative

A two-location auto detailing business with strong services and regular promotions that were not reaching nearby drivers at the moment they were actually searching.

What I did
  • Executed the digital marketing campaigns across both Washington locations
  • Produced promotional creative for paint protection, window tinting and detailing offers
  • Worked the local search side so the campaigns and the map listings carried the same message

“Kevin has strong knowledge of SEO and was able to execute our digital marketing campaigns.”

02
Electrical & solar · Home services

Pelican Coast Electric

Local SEO · Google Business Profile · Creative

Electrical and solar work is won in the map pack, where the listing that answers the exact search usually gets the call. The profile was doing none of that work.

What I did
  • Built the Google Business Profile around one searchable service at a time — solar installation, panel upgrades, backup power
  • Matched each social asset to a single service so the profile, the post and the search intent agreed
  • Kept categories, services and messaging consistent across the local footprint
03
Managed IT services

Venom IT

Paid social · Campaign creative

Managed IT is a considered purchase. The brief was awareness that still gave people somewhere to go — not another brochure listing every service at once.

What I did
  • One service message per asset — backup, security, support — instead of a list of everything
  • A single, explicit next step on every piece of creative
  • A consistent brand system across the full set so the campaign read as one voice

04
Accounting & advisory

Impulse Accountants

PPC · Paid social · Ad copy

Paid social for a chartered accounting firm, written for business owners who feel the problem long before they can name it in accounting language.

What I did
  • Problem-first hooks — profit on paper versus cash in the bank
  • Ad copy pitched at owners rather than at accountants
  • One direct call to action per asset: book the consultation

Websites I build

WordPress · Front-end development · Technical SEO

Most SEO recommendations die at the implementation step, because somebody still has to open the theme and change it. I build the site itself — new WordPress builds, redesigns and rebuilds, and hand-coded front-end work where a page builder is the wrong tool. The result is one person accountable for how the site looks, how fast it loads and whether it can rank.

What that covers
  • New WordPress builds — structure, templates, content model and forms
  • Redesigns and rebuilds with a full redirect map, so rankings survive the launch
  • Hand-coded HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP for anything a builder cannot reach
  • Schema, metadata, Core Web Vitals and indexation built into the templates
  • Migrations, staging, launch checks and ongoing site management

My process

Seven steps, one pair of hands

This is the whole chain, and I run all of it. No hand-off to a developer who was not in the strategy conversation, and no SEO bolted onto a site that was never structured for it.

01

Research

What the market actually searches for, and which pages competitors already own.

02

SEO strategy

The site architecture and target pages, decided before anything is designed.

03

UX & design

Layouts built around the enquiry, not around a purchased template.

04

WordPress development

Hand-built on a blank starter theme, so nothing loads that does not earn its place.

05

Technical implementation

Schema, internal linking, redirects and indexation, done during the build.

06

Performance

Image formats, request count and Core Web Vitals, budgeted from the start.

07

Measurement

Search Console connected, so we can both see what actually moved.

On a redesign, steps 02 and 05 carry the most risk — that is where rankings get lost. Redirect mapping and URL decisions happen before anything goes live, not after someone notices traffic has dropped.

About Kevin

I am John Kevin Genon — and I do the work myself.

I trained as a Computer Engineer and ended up in marketing. That order matters: I want to see how the system actually behaves before I have an opinion about the strategy.

Most engagements start the same way — someone has been paying for SEO for months and cannot tell you what changed. So I diagnose properly, explain it in plain language, and then do the work myself: in WordPress, in Search Console, on the Business Profile. Nothing gets handed to a queue, and reporting is tied to enquiries rather than vanity scores.

Anything done the same way twice is a candidate for automation. That is where AI genuinely earns its place — not writing your content, but removing the hours around it so the budget goes to strategy.

What I will not do
  • Promise a specific ranking position or a guaranteed traffic number.
  • Build links on private blog networks or buy links that put your domain at risk.
  • Invent case-study numbers. Where a client agrees to share results, I share them; where they do not, I say so.

Technical SEO Audit Checklist: What to Check, In What Order

The order an audit runs in decides what actually gets fixed. This is the sequence I use before touching anything.

Indexing

Why Your Pages Aren’t Getting Indexed by Google

Indexing problems are rarely mysterious once you read the right report. Here is how I diagnose them.

FAQ

Questions I get asked.

What does a digital marketing and technical SEO specialist actually do?

In my case: diagnose why a site is not getting the visibility it should, then implement the fix rather than document it. That covers technical SEO, answer engine optimisation, SEO content writing, local search, and the measurement needed to tell whether any of it worked.

What is AEO, and do I need it as well as SEO?

Answer engine optimisation is the work of getting cited when a search engine or AI assistant answers a question directly instead of returning a list of links. It extends SEO rather than replacing it — answer engines still rely on conventional indexes, so a page that cannot be crawled or indexed cannot be cited. More on answer engine optimisation.

Do you write the content as well as fix the technical side?

Yes. I write the SEO content and the briefs behind it — mapped to questions people actually ask, structured so a clean answer can be lifted out of the page, and edited to be worth reading rather than padded to a word count.

Do you work with local businesses?

Most of my work has been local search for high-ticket service businesses — legal, automotive, home services, accounting and real estate. That means Google Business Profile, map-pack visibility and location pages, and increasingly whether an assistant names you when somebody asks for that service nearby. See local SEO services.

How do you report on the work?

In plain language, tied to enquiries rather than vanity scores, using Search Console and GA4. For AEO there is a dated record of how the answer engines respond to an agreed set of questions, so the same set can be re-run later and compared like for like.

What will you not do?

Promise a specific ranking position or traffic number, build links on private blog networks, or invent case-study figures. Where a client agrees to share results I share them; where they do not, I say so.

Next step

Have a project I can help with?

Tell me what you are trying to improve and I will tell you honestly where I can help — and what I would look at first. No pitch deck, no 40-slide audit you will never read.
