A licensed contractor site built to own Los Angeles County search

What the site had to do

An electrician and a plumber in one business, serving Pasadena and a wide surrounding radius. Two things had to be true at once: a homeowner searching a specific problem needed a page that answered exactly that problem, and a homeowner searching in a specific suburb needed a page that spoke to that suburb.

Trying to serve both from a handful of generic pages is how contractor sites stall. The answer was a structured silo.

The architecture

The site runs to 81 indexable URLs, and almost none of them are filler:

• 28 electrical service pages — panel upgrades, EV charger installation, rewiring, aluminium and knob-and-tube replacement, surge protection, historic-home wiring, hot tub circuits and more
• 15 plumbing service pages — drain cleaning, water heater repair and replacement, tankless installation, sewer line repair, gas line installation, leak detection, repiping
• 26 service-area pages — built on a consistent trade + suburb pattern such as electrician-pasadena-ca and plumber-los-angeles-ca, covering Glendale, Burbank, Altadena, Arcadia, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City and the rest of the county
• 12 supporting pages — about, reviews, FAQ, blog, contact and legal

Every service page sits under a /services/ parent, so the URL structure itself communicates the hierarchy to both crawlers and people.

Build and stack

WordPress with Elementor Pro, built over Hello Elementor — the deliberately blank starter theme. Nothing comes from a purchased template: the layout, the component system and the page structures are built rather than adapted.

• Custom quote-request forms capturing service type, street address and preferred service date
• A 24/7 emergency number surfaced persistently, because emergency intent does not scroll

Local search and measurement

The site carries a full local business schema graph — Electrician, Plumber, Place, Organization, WebSite, WebPage and ImageObject — so search engines can resolve what the business is, where it operates and which pages serve which service.

Rank Math handles the SEO layer with its local module active, generating a dedicated local sitemap alongside the page and post sitemaps. Google Search Console is connected through Site Kit, so performance is measured rather than assumed.
